I while ago Corinne from Powder Butterfly contacted me because she needed new pictures for her products to renew the visuals and make them more coherent as a whole. A bit about the brand, first of all, she creates all the design and all products are made in the UK! If you want to check the website and shop it's here. Before starting we met to talk about what she had in mind, what type of products she had etc... I then did a few trials with backgrounds so she could choose exactly the type she wanted (white wood, white marble, dark wood...) It was decided that white marble would be use for the darker products and a darker background would be used for the lighter products like the teapot below. The challenge here was to set a certain ambience to the pictures, but still having different sets to distinguish each product, and trying to keep the cost down by not buying a thousand props! Corinne made it clear that she wanted black, white and gold to fit her brand, so I tried to keep those tones as much as I could, adding a few variations like for instance with the perfumed candles: Le challenge était de créer une certaine ambiance pour les photos tout en ayant des sets différents afin de distinguer chaque produit et d'essayer de limiter le coût en évitant d'acheter un millier d'accessoires! It was the first time I had so many different products from the same brand to work on and it was really fun, having to come with different ideas while keeping the same theme! I have to admit I got a bit carried away with the theme and didn't think it through when I got to the hip flask, picture is still good, but it will be change into something a bit less "feminine" vibe. Even though, yes, everybody can drink from a hip flask, except for that, the pictures need to be kinda genderless, a bit like the t-shirt pictures I've made: C'était la première fois que j'avais autant de produits différents pour une seule marque et c'était vraiment cool, devoir avoir plusieurs idées tout en gardant un seul et même thème! In any case, I can't wait to see the other products Corinne will need me to shoot! And on another, not that different note, in two weeks from now I'm giving a little workshop/talk about product photography to the Newcastle Etsy group, it's going to be fun (and a bit scary!)
See you soon! A bientôt!
